Please read this letter to EMS Providers Concerning the Coned By Endorsement Policy
The ConEd by Endorsement process has been established to allow for Pennsylvania EMS Professionals to receive CE Credit for courses that would not normally be registered as ConEd classes. Examples of classes like these are:
-
EMS Related CE Classes taken in other states
-
CE Classes taken through online websites other than the Pennsylvania Learning Management System
-
EMS or Medical conferences and lectures
It is important to remember that the CE by Endorsement process is NOT a replacement for registering CE Classes. CE Sponsors are still required to register CE Classes with the regional councils where the CE Classes are taught. Roster must still be received within 10 days after the end of the class. Students are encouraged to inquire and ensure that classes they are attending are registered with Pennsylvania.
If you feel that you have a class that can be considered for CE by Endorsement, please download and complete the CE by Endorsement form. Fax, email or mail in the form along with certificate of completion or completion card (front and back) for the courses you have taken. It will be evaluated and awarded CE based upon the level to which you are certified. Please include all course materials (handouts, lecture notes, etc.) so a proper evaluation of the class can be obtained.
Providers are reminded that the burden of demonstrating the applicability of a particular course is their responsibility. If there are questions regarding whether a course should receive credit, EMSI will contact you and ask for more information.
You cannot receive CE Credit for classes that are outside your scope of practice. For example, if you take an EKG course, and are certified as an EMT or First Responder, you will not be able to receive CE Credit for this. Also, if you are a PHRN or HP, you will not receive credit that is outside the National Standard Curriculum for EMT Paramedics. You can obtain copies of the National Standard Curriculum by going to www.ems.gov. If you have questions regarding this process, do not hesitate to call our office.
