On implementation of the new 2011 Statewide Protocols

Updates of the protocols will go into effect on July 1, 2011 and will need to be completed by all PA EMS Providers prior to that date.

**If you did your protocol updates using Centre Learn/The Learning Management System there is a possiblity that the completion did not copy over to your state profile on EMSRS. You need to login to EMSRS and confirm the completion by scrolling down and viewing your coned record. The title of the ALS and or BLS protocol update, date of completion, course and class numbers as well as how much coned credit it is worth should be listed with the rest of the coned you have completed for this year. If it doesn't appear and you are certain that you completed the updates using LMS, calll our office and we will confirm and hand enter onto your profile.**

There have been over 55 indiviuals trained in the EMSI region that are qualified to teach the Statewide PA Protocol Updates 2011. The majority of which come from the Pre-hospital groups, paramedic coordinators, medical directors, and also training personnel selected by EMS Agencies. Contact those groups for instruction, or contact Jim Husar at jhusar@emsi.org  here at EMSI.

A reminder that you can also complete the protocol updates on the Learning Management System, https://www.centrelearn.com/login_pa.asp You must register and have an account to access the classes. EMSI will accept either classroom or LMS for completion. Either way, the protocol roll out course numbers must appear on your coned record by no later that July 1, 2011.

If you do not complete the protocol updates by that time, you may risk disiplinary action through the Bureau of EMS as severe as loss of certification. The regional medical directors have agreed to not grant any ALS provider command if they do not complete the protocol roll outs.

As the changes in the Pennsylvania Protocol Updates for ALS and BLS went into effect as of July 1, 2011, all EMS agencies were tasked to submit a roster to the EMSI TQM Committee showing that all providers for that agency completed the updates either in a classroom setting or online using the LMS System, Centre Learn. The rosters were due July 15, 2011. By submitting a roster, each agency was participating in a regional QA/QI project which all are required to do as per Title 28 1001.65 . This regional project will count for fiscal year 2010-2011.
